Library Discovery Service

The library's discovery service is provided by EBSCO and brings different resources from database subscriptions, journal subscriptions, ebooks, and the print collection, together into one search. Watch this video for an overview of how to perform basic searches of the discovery system.

Individual Databases

Many of the library's databases are provided by EBSCO and use their EBSCOhost interface. This tutorial shows you how to search in EBSCOhost, including how to limit your search to a few databases or all of our EBSCO databases.

Sometimes you'll come across an article in the library's discovery service that does not have a "PDF Full Text" or "HTML Full Text" link, but a different kind of link. This video explains what those links mean and how you can use them to get to the resource you're looking for. 

Search Credo Reference

The Credo Reference database compiles encyclopedias and dictionaries to bring you quick overviews of topics, which can be helpful when starting your research .

The Credo Reference database includes mind maps that help you see how your topic connects with other topics. 

JSTOR

This video walks you through using JSTOR, a database full of journal articles in a wide variety of social science disciplines. 

ProQuest Dissertations & Theses

The ProQuest Dissertations & Theses databases is one of the best places to look for dissertations and theses, and this video demonstrates what a search on that platform will look like. 

Galaxie Theological Journals

This video shows how you can access articles from Galaxie Theological Journals, which hosts titles like The Journal of the Evangelical Theology Society and Master's Seminary Journal. 

Theological Research Exchange Network

The Theological Research Exchange Network (TREN) is another valuable resource for dissertations, especially in theology and related fields. This video explains how to find and download dissertations from TREN. 

Create Folders

EBSCOhost can help you organize your sources by putting them in folders. Watch this video to see how to organize sources for things like sorting out sources for different projects or remembering which articles you want to come back to later. 

Interlibrary Loan

Sometimes the library doesn't own a copy of the article or book that you want to read. In those cases, you can request them through interlibrary loan, as demonstrated in this video. 

Shipping and Scanning Services

For distance education students, the library offers to ship books within the US, and to send digital scans of up to one chapter or 10% of a book in our collection.
